Actually the FDS applies that whole virgin thing to the two classes of annointed, the evil slave and the Faithful slave. When the bridegroom delayed, or seemed to delay 1914-18, the evil ones had no holy spirit, oil in recepticles to keep preaching. The faithful had extra oil, god's spirit to do continue doing the preaching work. What alot of self aggrandizing crap.
I say recycle the oil and get a lube.

There's a little known fact you seldom see in print. The true understanding of the seven trumpets of revelation is that in 1919 each of the jailed WT board members farted one after another in a row. This amazing sequence was a sweet smelling odor to the Lord who appointed the remnant over all his belongings. Only it took another 68 years before they would form a Governing body. And today thier crap doesn't stink.

i just logged on to the uni website to get my long awaited semester one results.
i knew i had done well with my essays, pop quizzes etc throughout the semester, but i attributed that to the fact that i had weeks to fine tune my writing and research.

I had a good semester too. Harder and harder when you get older, be glad you saw the light before you were in your mid forties! Its a good feeling alright, using your brain for something other than chasing your own tail. Round and round we go, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday whoosh! begin again. NO MORE.

I had the Presiding Overseer counsel me on the clothes I was wearing. He and his family shopped at Macys. (Upscale clothing store with EXPENSIVE clothes) I was a thrift store haunter. I didn't dress out of date nor unclean. It just wasn't what he approved of. I was pioneering and living on so little money that I got a letter from the IRS telling me I didn't make enough money to file last year and therefore if this year was the same I didnt have to file either. (Bizzare)
So I said to him, "Well Brother (jackass) if you want me to dress better why not take me to Macys with you next time and buy me a suit, until then you'll only have to endure these clothes on me at the meetings because I never see you in service. Any time you'd like to pioneer with me I'd be happy to have you along."
He's now divorced, I am not living the second hand store life and I'm glad I dont have to see his sorry butt anymore.
What a putz.

funny title you might think but consider this point and apologies if i am covering old ground here...its not intentional.. i was raised by my mother who was and is a devout jw and as such until i was 20 (10 years ago) i was the same...trying my best to fit into the social environment i clearly was not made for but benefiting from good wholesome association with fellow brothers and sisters (note the sarcastic tone...make what you will of it).. althought at the time i didnt realise it but i was what others consider intelligent and quite academically able; i had a mind like a sponge and would spend hours in the jw library at the kh (which surprisingly enough contained non jw literature)...it was this that i read and would digest endlessly where i could.. one of those books (why it was there i dont know), was what i later undertood to be criminal law reports concerning cases that had gone before the courts.
my childish thirst for knowledge was intrigued...(i was then about 12).
the legal arguments i hadnt a clue what they meant but the facts surrounding these crimes were good reading.. i then knew i wanted to be a lawyer and that was what i said when an elder asked me what i wanted to do when i grew up; i mentioned trusting this man that i had read a book in the kh library and found it interesting...and that i wanted to be lawyer...i remember him smiling and saying that it was better to pioneer rather than seek a highly paid job...personally i didnt know what he meant properly but i felt a bit sad...and demotivated...i later in the week went back into the library and found the book had gone...!!.

As I read your words I too recalled the sacrafices I made to please Jehovah. In all honesty it was Jehovah I sought to please. Every time I showed unselfish effort on behalf of others, it was because it brought me satisfaction. To this day I still have satisfaction in having been kind to others during my 9 years pioneering. It came back to me in time in ways I cannot describe to you here. I had spirit lifting times cleaning toilets with others because I shared a purpose with them. Just because the Gov. Body and the whole layout was bull.... in so many ways, can never detract from the expression of my pure motives back then. Think of it, if you weren't pure in motive you would still be in the collective being betrayed. I see it, for me, as more of an awakening from a bad set of circumstances than a tragedy.
I am in a university now seeking a degree in English. I love it. (I hope I get finished before Armaggeddonnnnn comes! LOL) I'm faded but I still love people and do whatever is in my power to make this life enjoyable for people who are in a worse situation than I. No way will I let the New Yorkers and the drones make me bitter or disturbed. Its not worth the effort. I don't speak Borganese though.

i have not been in contact with jws since around 1988. i initially got out at the age of 15 in 1987, then there was some back-and-forth-crap, i went to some meetings, but then i was thru, in 1988. the only contact after that was one time, in 1989, when my grandmother died (she was a jw), and the service was held at kh.
anyway, the point here is: it was new to me that the wts is in the process of moving away from the 1914-doctrine.
and moving towards a more "liberal" kind of "well,never mind what we said about 1914, we are the last generation and the signs are there"-doctrine, without even trying to define whatever that means.
What was done at your Mother's funeral was pretty crappy, motivated by a sick corporate love for others but crappy none the less. Hitting is never the answer, unless they're armed.
Here's my stab at explaining the rationale for the redefinition of the word generation.
Jesus used the word to describe everyone in Isreal that was wicked at the time before the end of the Jewish "system of things". That included all the jews alive at that time, children, parents etc. The generation, all those wicked ones alive from the time of his arrival as messiah till the fall of jerusalem some 30 or so years later, constitute a "Generation" in themselves. So, that generation, not "age" specific but "time frame" specific, is the "Wicked Generation" that saw the end of the Jewish system of worship.
Today we know who constitutes the beginning of that generation, or time period, but not who are the last to be alive within it till the end of that time frame comes. (1914 - ?) Since it could come ANYTIME, we MUST WATCH OUR ASS.

Long suffering- What a sister must possess in order to put up with a "Theocratic Marriage". (Did he just say Jump?)
Kindness- Sharing an extra copy of the Watchtower with an unbaptized person who isn't prepared at the WT study. (You can count it.)
Goodness- That quality of the heart that moves the brothers and sisters to share with one another. (Wait, thats gossip, my mistake.)
Faith- A strongly held belief that high hours and magazine placements will get you a picnic with a panda where you will never die.
Mildness- What you see displayed by a parent when a child is dragged outside expecting to be cracked for acting his age. Self-control- The ability to completely accept everything taught when the mind is sceaming "BS".
